Scotland's 9/11: The Battle of Stirling Bridge
September 11, 1297. The Scots, under the leadership of William Wallace and Sir Andrew of Moray thoroughly defeated the English armies under John de Warenne, 7th Earl of Surrey, and Hugh de Cressingham.
Fast forward to September 11, 2009. Near dusk and to the sounds of the Aloa Bowmar Pipe Band, marchers followed the route from Stirling Castle to the 15th century stone bridge, built slightly upstream to replace the
original timber bridge.
Watch the marchers and listen to the pipe band in this video.
